Paal Kozhukattai


Channa Dal – 1 Cup (100 gms)

Boiled Rice – ¾ Cup (75 gms)

Cardamom (Elaichi) – 5 No.s

Jaggery – ½ Kg

Coconut – Grated half cup

Milk – 1 Cup

Cashew nut and Raisins – 100 gms

Ghee – 4 spoon

Salt – ½ Spoon

Method of Preparation

Step 1 – Soak the boiled rice for 6 hours, after soaking the rice for 6 hours grind it well until the dough becomes hard, then add a bit of water to it.

Step 2 – Roll the dough to lengthy pipe like structure and keep it for rest for half an hour.

Step 3 – Boil channa dal in a big bowl.

Step 4 – Add the grated coconut and dough to the bowl and keep mixing it until it becomes thick. (Ensure that channa dal and dough doesn’t stick together)

Step 5 – Add jaggery to it, half spoon of salt and cardamom to it, then mix it.

Step 6 – Pour 1 cup of milk to it and keep mixing it for 5 – 10 minutes.

Step 7 – Fry cashew nut and raisins and add it to the bowl.

Step 8 – Pour ghee to the bowl.

Garnish it with cashew nut and raisins.
